Johor Bahru Leaving on Holiday for 1 week
Leaving on Holiday for 1 week
Hi Guys,Currently I have a 422 tank running on OHF system. In that tank, I have the following fishes:
1 x XB (about 11 inch)
1 x RTC (about 3-4 inch)
3 x TFB
From the forum, the common advise would be to conduct WC 1-2 days prior to travel and to starve the fishes during this period. I read that a week without food is ok for aro but how about RTC? Will the aro turn on the RTC/TFB during this starvation period? Any other advise?

Wc at least 1-2 days before hence can monitor after that. Feed them full before you leave. Can get auto feeder for the rest except aro. They are too fast for aro. Even aro attack them also no choice and nvm.
>Well if aro attack them is fine with me...only concern is attack till mati then water turn bad
>Tfb is too fast for aro and rtc is not tasty to me.
>I think one week should be ok.
These livestock can go without food for days.
If you worry, just throw in 1-2 bags of feeders before you leave.
>Thanks guys for the replies. I guess the rtc is also too fat for the aro to be interested too lah...my concern with feeders is the possibility of diseases as well as feeders killed but not consumed by any....
>feeders are a good alternative. can treat the feeders first then pour in. if got dead bodies then the water will be affected.
>Never never throw bags of feeder just before you leave. You will never know what will happened to them. The aro n RTC could kill them for fun once they are full and the dead feeders will foul the water quickly.
The proper method is feed BF and MP to the aro and RTC 2 days before your departure date. WC one day before you leave and no feeding on that day.
Buy 2 corner bubble filters hook them up with an AC/DC airpump.

Quarantine the feeders for a couple of days, as for feeders killed but not consumed , it cant happen because you got RTC which is the vacuum cleaner which eat all the food.
>Get feeders from healthy source.
After visiting so many lfs, i know one lfs can be trusted.
Dont use the water from the bag, pour out the water and use new water. Give the feeders a good bath.
Still worried ? Then quarantined the feeders for a week or so.
I had thrown two big bags, over hundreds of feeders in my 6 feet tank before.
If your filtration is good, what is there to worry.
